i. Peer Review and Revision
At JAHSSSS, we uphold rigorous academic standards through a transparent, fair, and structured peer review process. All submissions undergo evaluation according to internationally accepted scholarly practices to ensure quality, originality, and relevance.
1. Initial Editorial Assessment
Once a manuscript is submitted, the Editorial Office conducts an initial screening to determine whether the submission:
- Fits the focus and scope of the journal.
- Conforms to the author guidelines, including formatting, structure, and academic language.
- Meets basic standards for academic rigor and ethical compliance (e.g., no duplicate publication).
Manuscripts that do not meet these preliminary criteria may be desk-rejected without further review. Manuscripts that pass this stage are forwarded for formal peer review.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
JAHSS employs a double-blind peer review model in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other throughout the review process. This approach helps eliminate bias and promotes objective evaluation.
Each eligible manuscript is typically reviewed by two independent experts with subject matter expertise relevant to the manuscript’s content. Reviewers are selected for their academic qualifications, experience in the field, and absence of conflicts of interest.
3. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on clearly defined criteria, including but not limited to:
- Originality and contribution to the field of humanities.
- Clarity and coherence of arguments or analysis.
- Relevance to existing scholarship and literature.
- Methodological or interpretive rigor, as appropriate.
- Quality of writing, organization, and formatting.
- Appropriate citation and engagement with relevant sources.
Reviewers provide detailed evaluations, including constructive feedback and recommendations.
4. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ assessments and recommendations, the editorial team will make one of the following decisions:
- Accept without revision: the manuscript meets all criteria for publication.
- Accept with minor revisions: minor changes are required before publication.
- Revise and resubmit (major revisions): substantive revisions are needed; the manuscript will undergo further review after revision.
- Reject: the manuscript does not meet the required standards for publication.
Decisions are communicated to the corresponding author, along with reviewers’ comments.
5. Revision and Resubmission
When revisions are requested, authors are expected to respond constructively to reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript within a specified timeframe. Authors must include a response letter addressing each point raised by reviewers.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or to additional reviewers for a second review cycle, particularly in cases of major revision.
6. Final Acceptance and Publication
After satisfactory revision and final editorial approval, the manuscript is accepted for publication. Authors will receive instructions for the final submission, including any formatting corrections, copyright/license agreements, and other pre-publication requirements.
7. Transparency and Confidentiality
Throughout the review process, JAHSS maintains strict confidentiality of reviewer reports and author identities. Reviewers are expected to uphold ethical standards, disclose potential conflicts of interest, and provide objective, respectful feedback.
j. After Acceptance
Upon acceptance, authors will be advised of the publication timeline and may be required to:
· Submit a final camera-ready version
· Authorize license and copyright terms
· Provide any necessary forms or supplementary documentation.
